Travel Information

Port of Entry
The primary ports of entry for our hunting concessions in Zimbabwe are Victoria Falls International Airport (VFA) and Bulawayo International Airport (BUQ). These airports are serviced by major airlines including South African Airways, SA Airlink, British Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, and Air Namibia. For added convenience, we also utilize private airstrips located at our concessions.
Travel Agent Assistance
When booking international flights to Africa, it is advisable to work with a travel agent. Miriam Clingensmith from Frosch Travel Agency is available to assist with flight bookings and can be contacted via email at miriam.clingensmith@frosch.com or by phone at +1 713-590-8138. She is also available for in-person consultations at the DSC and SCI shows.
Entry and Visa Requirements
All visitors to Zimbabwe must possess a passport that remains valid for at least six months beyond the intended date of travel, as well as a round-trip airline ticket or other proof of departure from the country. Most visitors will need to obtain a temporary entry visa for Zimbabwe. Since regulations frequently change, we recommend that all travelers verify the current entry requirements with the nearest Zimbabwean consulate. Additionally, travelers arriving from countries with a risk of yellow fever transmission must present a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate.
Health and Travel Insurance
Given the potentially hazardous nature of hunting safaris, it is crucial that each client secures appropriate medical insurance that covers evacuation, personal insurance and repatriation to their home country. We recommend Ripcord Comprehensive Travel Protection/ Redpoint Travel Protection , World Nomads, Global Rescue and Med jet Assist as options for such coverage.
Travelling with Firearms
It is highly recommended that hunters fully insure all firearms before traveling to Africa. Ammunition must be stored in a separate, lockable container from the rifle. Bows may be imported with a special hunting permit, available at an additional cost ( $1000- $1500,00). Hunters entering Zimbabwe with firearms and ammunition are required to complete a Certificate to Possess Firearms (Form F.R. 20) in duplicate for all firearms and/or ammunition in their possession. Upon arrival in Zimbabwe, this form should be presented along with a copy of the Letter of Invitation, which we will provide prior to your departure. A temporary import/export permit will be issued at customs upon arrival at the airport.
For those traveling through or visiting South Africa, it is important to complete a South Africa Firearms Permit Application Form (SAPS 520) and obtain the necessary permit prior to arrival, depending on the airline's in-transit regulations. We advise checking with your travel agent or airline regarding the transit procedures for South Africa. For additional information, please refer to our section on Traveling with Firearms in South Africa.
Experience Zimbabwe
Africa is renowned for its rich and vibrant cultures, welcoming people, thrilling adventures, and stunning natural beauty. Cletus & Joe Safaris is pleased to assist in arranging additional sightseeing opportunities, interesting excursions, or alternative activities for travellers and observers.
Money /Cash Declaration
The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe does not accept personal or traveller checks. Cash payments must be accompanied by a stamped Form 47 Customs Declaration, completed upon arrival in Zimbabwe. Each client is permitted to bring up to $10,000 in hard currency cash, which must be declared on Form 47 upon entry. This declaration is required when making payments for trophy fees and other expenses to prevent suspicions of money laundering. Compliance with this regulation ensures transparency in financial transactions during the hunting expedition.
